Course overview

The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course offered by Mines Rescue provides students with the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This hands on course is relevant to all individuals who wish to develop their skills to be able to provide CPR in a range of situations. This includes community and workplace settings.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will gain skills and knowledge in:

  • Responding to an emergency situation
  • Performing CPR procedures
  • Communicating details of the incident

Upon successful completion of the CPR course, students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following unit:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

To maintain currency, the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that CPR skills be updated annually.

Two hours

Entry requirements

No formal previous learning is required for this course however Mines Rescue encourages students to gain knowledge and experience of the policies and procedures of their workplace before starting the course.

It is acknowledged that this is a course based on a Certificate II level qualification that requires appropriate levels of language, literacy and numeracy skills to manage course work, on-course activities and assessment tasks.

Students also require the physical ability to kneel on the floor to perform CPR.
