Course overview

The First Aid course offered by Mines Rescue provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of the casualty, the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This course is tailored to suit heavy industry, but can be adjusted to suit any workplace. Participants will gain skills and knowledge in:

  • assessing the situation
  • applying first aid procedures
  • communicating details of the incident
  • evaluating own performance.

Upon successful completion of the First Aid course, participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following unit:

  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid

Entry requirements

No formal previous learning is required for this course. Participants require the physical ability to kneel on the floor to perform two minutes of uninterrupted CPR.

Additional information

The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends the CPR component of this course be updated annually. To maintain the currency and validity of first aid skills industry requires re-certification to be completed every three years.

This course is also a core unit of the Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (RII30715).
