Carry out Risk Management Process (G2)

Course overview

The Risk Assessment course offered by Mines Rescue covers the skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes in the coal and metalliferous mining industries.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will gain skills and knowledge in:

    Determining the risk management process
  • Identifying hazards and assessing risk
  • Identifying unacceptable risk and potential actions
  • Determining and implementing appropriate actions
  • Reviewing the implementation of actions
  • Auditing the risk management process
  • Completing records and reports

Upon successful completion of the Risk Assessment course, students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following unit:

  • RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process

This unit contributes to the completion of the Certificate IV in Underground Coal Operations (RII40420).


Two days

Entry requirements

No formal previous learning is required for this course. However, it is an expectation that students have experience working in a coal or metalliferous mine environment.

If you believe you already hold some or all of the skills, knowledge and/or experience for this course, you may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Note: Depending on student numbers, this course can be contextualised to suit individual stakeholders.
