May 2017 – NSW Mining celebrates achievements

Mine operators and industry suppliers recently celebrated the achievements of those who work in, and support, the NSW mining industry. The annual event, held in April at Parliament House in Sydney, included the NSW Minerals Council 2017 Industry and Suppliers Awards.

David Moult, the then Managing Director and CEO for Centennial Coal and Chairman of the Coal Services Board, was awarded for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to Mining’. The award recognised David’s impressive career and strong leadership for the mining industry overall.

Coal Services’ Managing Director/CEO, Lucy Flemming, was named a finalist for the ‘Exceptional Women in NSW Mining’ Award acknowledging her ongoing commitment to and passion for the industry. It also recognised her efforts to raise the profile of Coal Services and our work to protect workers’ health and safety.

‘I felt very privileged to have been nominated and also to make the finalists list. This is a special personal achievement for me. When I look back to when I first joined Coal Services, I had no mining experience. I knew little about mining or coal. I have made mistakes and have learnt a lot from the people I work with, our shareholders the NSW Minerals Council and the CFMMEU, and our other industry partners,’ Ms Flemming said.

‘Today I am proud to be part of an organisation that is founded in the coal industry, whose people are passionate about what we do each day to help protect the health and safety of our workers. Coal Services did not come home empty-handed with our very own Chairman, David Moult, receiving an award for his significant contribution to mining.’
