Introduction
This course provides you with an understanding of road crash rescue equipment and techniques in a rescue environment.
Who should attend?
Individuals who may be required to perform road crash rescue as part of their duties, such as an Emergency Services Officer.
What you will learn
- How to prepare and respond to a road crash
- Establishing and maintaining a safe rescue scene
- Management of casualties
- How to remove casualties from entrapment
- Casualty handover to Emergency Services
- Scene preservation and post operational activities
Credential issued
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following units:
- PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation
- PUASAR024 Undertake road crash rescue
These units contribute to the RII30719 - Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue
Course delivery
This course is delivered through classroom-based training, desktop scenarios and practical exercises.
Assessment includes written, oral and practical tests.

Five days
Entry requirements
- You must have successfully completed the following unit/s before commencing your course:
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- When booking this course, you will be required to provide evidence that you have completed the above units of competency (e.g. a First Aid certificate).
- This course is based on a Certificate III level qualification. You should have appropriate literacy and numeracy skills to manage course work, activities and assessments.
- Mines Rescue recommends you be aware of the policies and procedures of your workplace before starting the course.

Students Under 18
Mines Rescue minimum age for enrolment is 15 years.
If you are under 18 years of age we will require your parent or guardian to sign your Student Enrolment Form. Please contact a Mines Rescue Station directly to enquire or enrol into your course.
Visa Holders
Mines Rescue is not CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered. If you are visiting Australia and hold a visa, please contact Mines Rescue directly prior to enrolling into any of our courses.
