Medical providers

Our goal is to ensure that the health surveillance program in NSW continues to deliver the best possible evidence-based outcomes for coal workers. To do that, the order sets forth minimum qualification for health professionals conducting Order 43 medical assessments.

Training providers who offer courses in Spirometry, Audiometry or Respirator Fit Testing, and wish to be listed on the Coal Services Training Provider Register, should complete the enquiry form below.

Coal Services will require all training providers to submit specific information in order to be placed on the Training Providers Register.

Order 43 provider enquiry

If you would like to register as a training provider, please send us a message by filling out the form below and we will get back with you shortly.

Requirements

  • Must be registered in Australia
  • Completed NSW Order 43 Medical Practitioner Accreditation Course
  • Completed approved spirometry training**
  • Provide AHPRA Registration Number
  • Provide DNRME Registration Number (if applicable)
  • Completion of External Order 43 – Provider Declaration
  • Completion of at least 25 Order 43 medical assessments per calendar year
  • Completion of online yearly refresher course

  • Registered in Australia – Division 1
  • Completed approved audiometry training**
  • Completed approved spirometry training**
  • Must be under the supervision of an approved Medical Practitioner

** The course must be conducted by one of the accredited training providers listed on the CS Health website.

Annual calibration statements/certificates for equipment used to perform Order 43 medicals. Certificates must include the brand of the equipment and the unique serial number.

These include:

  • Spirometer – If the spirometer does not need annual calibration the initial Certificate of Stability must be provided
  • 3L Syringe (used to accuracy check the spirometer)
  • Audiometer
  • Hearing booth (if used by the practice)
  • Cholesterol screening equipment
  • Quantitative respirator fit testing equipment

If some tests are outsourced by the practice, the name and address of the provider needs to be provided. Coal Services may request calibration certificates for their equipment.

Expression of interest for accreditation

The NSW Coal Services Order 43 Medical Practitioner Accreditation Course has been developed based on findings from the Senate Select Committee Inquiry and the Queensland Parliamentary Inquiry to provide an understanding of the health risks associated with coal mining and to better equip medical providers to monitor workers’ health for early detection of occupational disease. If you are a Medical Practitioner who wishes to express interest in the accreditation course, please read the Order 43 – At a Glance Medical Practitioners information sheet, then complete the below enquiry form.
