Introduction
This course aims to share learnings from past mining disasters to prevent reoccurrences and to improve the health and safety of everyone working in the mining industry.
Who should attend?
Practising certificates holders for any class of mine to satisfy the maintenance of competence requirements for the NSW Resources Regulator.
What you will learn
- Recognise recurrent patterns of failure linked to significant work health and safety incidents
- Understand how identifying and managing a principal hazard links to reducing risk
- Recognise the causal role human and organisational factors and critical factors play in work health and safety incidents
- Build an understanding of roles, responsibilities and mechanisms that foster a safe work culture
- Identify contemporary risk factors and vulnerabilities in your organisational safety management systems
- Develop risk control options and strategies that best manage work, health and safety risks
Credential issued
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion – 1 Day Learning from Disasters.
Mines Rescue Pty Ltd is approved by the NSW Resources Regulator to deliver the Learning from Disasters one day program. Approved Training Provider number 0003650.

- There are no formal pre-requisites for this course.
- Mines Rescue recommends you be aware of the policies and procedures of your workplace before starting the course.

Students Under 18
Mines Rescue minimum age for enrolment is 15 years.
If you are between the ages of 15 and 18, we require your parent or guardian to sign your Student Enrolment Form. Please contact a Mines Rescue Station directly to enquire or enrol into your course.
Visa Holders
Mines Rescue is not CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered. If you are visiting Australia and hold a visa, please contact Mines Rescue directly prior to enrolling into any of our courses.
