Regular physical activity has many health benefits.
Getting enough exercise as a coal mine worker can be challenging. 12-hour shifts, limited daylight, rotating rosters and family commitments: these daily realities for workers can make it seem like it’s too difficult to become more active.
However, incorporating small, manageable increases of physical activity into your routine is achievable and has important health benefits.
Physical activity has many benefits including:
- having more energy and better fitness
- improved mood, reduced stress and better sleep
- weight management and reduced risk of diabetes, heart disease and stroke
- stronger muscles, bones and joints which reduces the risk of injury.
