DESCRIPTION:Education and Training | Training Categories | GUI – Generic Underground Induction  \n\nIntroduction\nThis course introduces you to the underground coal mining industry where you will gain the skills and knowledge to work as an underground coal mine worker in NSW and Qld. \n\nWho should attend?\n\nIndividuals wishing to work in a NSW or Qld underground coal mine. \n\nWhat you will learn\n\nYou will gain skills and knowledge in:  \n\n\n	Firefighting techniques\n	Underground communication devices\n	Self-escape equipment and self-escape systems to evacuate the mining environment*\n	Isolation techniques\n	Reading mine plans\n	Industry-specific risk management tools\n	Basic first aid skills\n\n\nYou will also experience an underground mining environment using fully immersive virtual reality technologies and our purpose-built underground training gallery. \n\n*This course includes training in the operation of self-rescuers and breathing apparatus\, including simulator oxygen generating self-contained self-rescuers to comply with Section 103 of the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Regulation 2022 (NSW). \n\nThis course also covers the requirements of Qld Standard 11 and the Underground Coal Mine Safety Skill Set (RIISS00033). \n\nCredential issued\nUpon successful completion of this course\, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following units: \n\n\n	RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace\n	RIIERR203E Escape from hazardous situations unaided\n	RIIERR205D Apply initial response First Aid\n	RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents\n	RIIGOV201E Comply with site work processes/procedures\n	RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control\n	RIIWHS201E Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures                           \n\n\nIf you are completing this course at the Newcastle\, Hunter Valley\, Western or Moolarben Mines Rescue stations\, you will also receive an industry Self-Escape Card. This card may be required for site access. \n\nAlternative pathways are available if you complete the course at Southern or Gunnedah Mines Rescue station and think you will need a Self-Escape Card. Please enquire at the time of booking. \n\nCourse delivery\n\nThis course is delivered through classroom-based training\, desktop scenarios\, virtual reality and practical exercises. \n\nAssessment includes written\, oral and practical tests. \n\nDuration\n\nFour days \n\nEntry requirements\n\n\n	There are no formal prerequisites for this course\n	This course is based on a Certificate II level qualification. As part of your course enrolment at Mines Rescue\, we would like you to complete a short online quiz so we can understand your current levels of language\, literacy and numeracy and then if required\, tailor your training to suit your needs.
