DESCRIPTION:Education and Training | Training Categories | CAR – Self-Escape Refresher - Half Day  \n\nIntroduction\nThis course refreshes your skills and knowledge to use a variety of breathing apparatus should you need to self-escape an underground coal mining environment \n\nWho Should Attend?\n\nExperienced individuals who require refresher training to meet legislative and site requirements. \n\nRefresher options\n\nMines Rescue has a range of refresher options for experienced individuals. Please refer to the entry requirements and the related course options below. \n\nMines Rescue strongly suggests confirming specific requirements with your employer and/or site prior to booking. \n\nWhat you will learn\n\n\n	Situational and risk awareness\n	Communication in an emergency\n	Self-contained self-rescuer (SCSR) use\, donning and changeover procedures*\n	Compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA) donning and changeover procedures\n	Filter self-rescuer (FSR) donning and changeover procedures\n	Evacuation wearing self-escape equipment\n\n\n*This course includes training in the operation of self-rescuers and breathing apparatus to comply with Section 103 of the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Regulation 2022 (NSW).  \n\nIf you require simulator oxygen-generating self-contained self-rescuers (OSCSR) training\, please refer to our related courses. \n\nCredential issued\n\nUpon successful completion of this course\, you will be awarded: \n\n\n	Mines Rescue - Self-Escape Card\n\n\nThis card may be required for site access. Please confirm directly with your site for their requirements. \n\nCourse delivery\n\nThis course is delivered through classroom-based training\, desktop scenarios\, virtual reality and practical exercises. \n\nAssessment includes written\, oral and practical tests. \n\nDuration\n\nHalf day \n\nEntry requirements\n\n\n	You must have successfully completed sufficient Self-Escape training (both SCSR and CABA) within eighteen (18) months of the course date. \n	When booking this course\, you will be asked to provide evidence that you have completed the above training (e.g. your Self Escape Card dated within 18 months).\n	Please refer to the entry requirements document for more information.\n	If you are unsure if you are eligible for this course\, please call your local Mines Rescue station for more information.\n\n\nOther Information\nThe Self-Escape Refresher is offered at Newcastle\, Hunter Valley\, Lithgow and Moolarben.\n \nAlternative pathways are available at Gunnedah and Southern Mines Rescue for those requiring self-escape training or the Self-Escape Card.\nWhat we include: \n\n\n	Tea and coffee facilities\n	Additional PPE specific to your training\n\n\nWhat you need to bring: \n\n\n	Fully enclosed footwear\n\n\nRefresher: \n\nComponents of this course require refreshers as per Section 103 of the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Regulation 2022 (NSW). \n\nRelated courses\nSelf-Escape Refresher (including OSCSR) - Half Day\n\nFor students requiring six-monthly self-escape and three-yearly oxygen-generating self-contained self-rescuer (OSCSR) training. \nGeneric Underground Refresher - Full Day\n\nFor individuals requiring both self-escape training and the WHS refresher. \nGeneric Underground Refresher (including OSCSR) - Full Day\n\nFor individuals requiring self-escape training\, three-yearly oxygen-generating self-contained self-rescuer (OSCSR) training and the WHS refresher. \nWHS Refresher - Half Day\n\nFor individuals who require only the underground WHS refresher course for site access. \nUlan West Self-Escape Training\n\nFor individuals who require site-specific Ulan West self-escape system training.\nPlease note: students may also need to book an additional refresher to meet industry requirements. \nSite Specific Training\n\nPlease contact your local station directly to discuss site-specific training. \nSelf-Escape Induction and Self-Escape Induction (including OSCSR)\n\nFor experienced individuals who do not meet the entry requirements for the self-escape refresher. \nGeneric Underground Induction\n\nFor individuals new to the industry or returning after an extended period. \n\n\nPlease note: Due to the high volume of bookings\, the below availability is indicative only\, as it is dependent on processing times. \n\n\nUpcoming workshops\nPlease note: credit card payment is required at the time of enrolment.
