Introduction
An Incident Command and Control System (ICCS) is a management system designed to integrate and coordinate multiple agencies to work together effectively in an emergency.
ICCS is used by all NSW agencies who may be involved in a coal mine emergency response including the Police Force, Ambulance Service, Fire and Rescue and the Rural Fire Service.
This course will familiarise you with the ICCS management system and how it can be applied to your operations.
Who should attend?
Individuals who may be required to manage emergency situations in open cut or underground mines as part of their duties.

- How to establish an effective decision-making structure
- Resource and facility requirements
- Key members of the Incident Management Team (IMT)
- Establishing training requirements
- Legislated responsibilities of external agencies
- Recommendations of the Pike River Royal Commission
- Establishing an Emergency Management System (EMS) consistent with NSW State Emergency Management Plan (EMPLAN) objectives and reflects the ‘Prevention, Preparation, Response and Recovery’ philosophy
Credential issued
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Statement of Attendance.

This course is delivered through classroom-based training, desktop scenarios and practical exercises.

Entry requirements
- There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, however Mines Rescue expects students to have experience working in a coal mine.
- Mines Rescue recommends you be aware of the policies and procedures of your workplace before starting the course.

Students Under 18
Mines Rescue minimum age for enrolment is 15 years.
If you are between the ages of 15 and 18, we require your parent or guardian to sign your Student Enrolment Form. Please
contact a Mines Rescue Station directly to enquire or enrol into your course.
Visa Holders
Mines Rescue is not CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered. If you are visiting Australia and hold a visa, please contact Mines Rescue directly prior to enrolling into any of our courses.
