Erin’s career began as an underground operator as part of BHP’s Graduate Engineering program. Over the course of her 12-year career, she has gained invaluable operational and leadership experience working across numerous roles in development and longwall departments. These roles included Development Planning Engineer, Development Coordinator and Mine Planning Engineer and formed the foundation for her next role as a Continuous Improvement Engineer where she demonstrated an ability to assess, identify and implement opportunities to improve safety and optimise production.

Immediately prior to joining Coal Services in 2019, Erin was the Compliance Superintendent and relief Mining Engineering Manager at South32’s Dendrobium Mine. As well as reviewing, developing and implementing the mine’s Safety Management Systems, this role further equipped Erin to understand and ensure legislative compliance. Erin was a facilitator and participant in audits with internal stakeholders as well as Targeted Assessment Programs for the NSW Resources Regulator, the outcomes of which identified further opportunities for improvement with regards to legislative requirements and best practice.

Erin is a member of the Mines Rescue Working Group and is a Mines Rescue brigade member. She is also a member of the Local Emergency Management Committee for the Wollongong area, a forum which is responsible for emergency management in local government areas.

Erin is a member of the Mine Managers Association of Australia and was the winner of the highly coveted NSW Exceptional Woman in Mining award in 2021.
