On Tuesday 14 March 2023, Coal Services formally signed on as a Gold Pledge Partner with the Soldier On Pathways Program, demonstrating their commitment to being a veteran-supportive workplace.
Since 2016, the Soldier On Pathways Program has grown to now support over 4200 veterans and family members around Australia. The program is also part of the Australian Government and Department of Veterans’ Affairs “Enhanced Employment Support for Veterans” Program, designed to raise awareness of the skills, values and experience veterans bring to the civilian workplace.
Coal Services Managing Director/CEO, Lucy Flemming said the partnership is an exciting one. It is fantastic to support an organisation like Soldier On looking to transition veterans into local businesses and industries like mining where their transferable skills and experience can offer a lot to our communities. We currently employ a number of ex-serving veterans within our ranks who make a valuable contribution to our organisation.
The new relationship will see Coal Services share employment opportunities directly with veterans who have left the military and/or are looking to, as well as the families and spouses of current military employees moving to our regional areas like Singleton. Coal Services employs a diverse range of skilled workers from administration, health and safety professionals and technical experts to corporate executives.
“It’s a great way to strengthen capability in our regional mining areas and give veterans and their families the opportunity to carve out a new career pathway in a supportive and inclusive working environment,” said Ms Flemming.
Soldier On Senior Pathways Officer, Kevin Lomax said it’s great to have Coal Services onboard as an official Gold Pledge Partner, joining over 250 organisations to have signed the Pledge since 2020, along with over 40 Education partners, all supporting Soldier On’s Pathways Program.
“It’s an exciting time at Soldier On, with the expansion of the Pathways Program enabling us to support more veterans and family members than ever before. By committing to The Pledge, Coal Services will help to bring more awareness, support and engagement with the veteran community and their families”, said Mr Lomax.
