Meet James

James Barben was appointed as a Director of Coal Services on 1 August 2021.

James has worked in the mining, power and consulting sectors in a variety of roles over more than 15 years. Since 2017 James has been the Director Policy with NSW Minerals Council. In this role he has responsibility for the policy areas of health and safety, mine rehabilitation, careers and skills and runs the Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue community engagement program.

Prior to this James worked in the mining industry for more than ten years with Glencore, Yancoal and Centennial Coal. James holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management; he is also a member of the University of NSW Education Trust Advisory Committee and the Building, Construction, Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Advisory Body Industry Advisory Committee.
