Scott’s expertise extends to the application of material risk management, safety management systems, legal compliance and emergency management; areas in which Scott has worked for Tier one mining companies.
Scott joined Coal Services in 2020, preceded by 16 years’ underground coal experience. His mining career commenced with Illawarra Metallurgical Coal in 2005 after completing a Bachelor of Mining Engineering with First Class Honours.
Scott was the Manager of Mining Engineering at Appin and Dendrobium mines and had previously held the roles of Undermanager and Production Manager. Scott’s experiences in these roles have equipped him with an applied understanding of the legislative framework that supports the mining industry and exposed him to managing serious workplace events.
He has been a mines rescue brigade member for more than ten years, winning seven regional and two Australian mines rescue competitions as part of the Appin team.
Scott is a panel member for NSW (New South Wales) deputy examinations through the NSW Coal Competence Board and is a member of the Mine Managers Association of Australia. Scott’s qualifications include Deputy, Undermanager, Ventilation Officer and Mining Engineering Manager Certificates of Competency. Scott also holds a QLD (Queensland) 1st Class (Mine Manager) Certificate of Competency and SAI Global Lead Auditor qualifications.
